Calling all hair care formulators – this one’s for you! In this post we’re showcasing three of this year’s key hair care trends from one of our principals Carrubba, focusing on plant-based functionals, aromatic extracts and clean fragrances.

Plant-based functionals

Switching to plant-based functionals in hair care formulations has been growing in popularity for many years as consumers continue to search for products that contain more natural ingredients. But which Carrubba ingredients can help you formulate for this trend?

Essential Rice Complex™

Rice water is rich in nutrients and well-known for its amazing hair and skin care benefits, and Carrubba’s Essential Rice Complex™ utilises this foundation, containing rice water and peptides. Rice peptides have antioxidant properties that can scavenger harmful free radicals to promote healthier skin and hair. 

Although there’s a lack of clinical evidence that supports the benefits of rice water, there’s a vast amount of anecdotal evidence that suggests it can help to promote silky, strong and smooth hair. Natural aromatic extracts

Natural aromatic extracts is another growing trend in the hair care industry. Aromatic extracts are made by isolating and physically extracting the aromatic volatile fractions from plants without chemically altering them. These aromatic fractions can be blended together to create sophisticated accords that cannot be achieved with essential oils.

N65596 – Aromatic Rosemary Mint Extract Blend

N65596 is an energising and aromatic rosemary mint extract blend that offers a sophisticated aroma-therapeutic experience. 

N64809 – Aromatic Orange Blossom Extract Blend

This aromatic extract blend truly captures the authentic aroma of orange blossom essence, providing a soothing and calming effect.

N65228-WS – Aromatic Green Tea Cucumber Bergamot Extract Blend

In this special blend, cooling cucumber and fresh bergamot are brewed perfectly with herbal green tea. 

Fragrances

The third and final trend centres on the use of fragrance submissions – these can provide an incredible hair care experience and there are three Carrubba ingredients to help you formulate for this trend:

Matcha Mint Fragrance (Scentsibly Clean™)

Matcha Mint Fragrance includes top notes of fresh mint leaves and bergamot, middle notes of cyclamen, jasmine and green tea and base notes of ambergris, musk and sandalwood. Together they provide an unmistakably fresh green herbal scent that invokes purity and cleanliness. Bursts of steeping tea and bright fresh mint invigorate the senses to a state of renewal.

Fresh Starfruit Fragrance (Scentsibly Clean™)

In this fragrance the starfruit aroma melds together a sweet, sour, and tartness reminiscent of green apples and crisp white citrus notes evaporate like the warmth of lemon tea, leaving behind deeper, enriching notes of vanilla and powdered sugar. It includes top notes of starfruit, peach, pineapple and citrus accord complemented by notes of cassis, rhubarb, apple and pears, along with middle notes of cyclamen, orris and lily and base notes of musk and woody cedar. 

Fragrance (Sunset Dreams Type)

This beautiful fragrance provides light and airy mandarin marine notes with warm-hearted, citrus floral middle notes, drawing you in deeper into the warm musk and amber notes on the bottom. It’s made with top notes of grapefruit, mandarin, berries, marine, green leaf, violet and rose, middle notes of jasmine, citrus, floral, apple, cyclamen, lime and violet and base notes of white musk, sandalwood, woody cedar and amber.
