Effective Cleaning In A Cold Wash

Posted by Chemlink in Household Care Products | 0 comments

Clothes washing at lower temperatures is nothing new. Consumers are more aware than ever before of the environmental benefits, however, so there’s a great opportunity for brands to engage with this trend and refocus on cold wash formulations.

We’ve shared some stand-out ingredients with great eco-toxicity profiles that will make your formulations more effective.

Pre-Spotting

Rhodiasolv

Rhodiasolv® Infinity E is a green solvent with emulsifiers used for pre-spotting stains. It helps to remove marker pen ink, ketchup and mustard – even with cold water.

What makes it so great?

  • Raw ingredients all biodegradable
  • Non-caustic and VOC exempt
  • Efficient at neutral pH
  • Infinitely dilutable concentrate forms a spontaneous micro emulsion
  • Multi-purpose textile and surface cleaning for inks and greases
  • Highly effective on tough-to-clean stains
  • Dilutes easily with no special equipment, remains clear and stable

Degreasing

We have a range of optimised solvent-free degreasing products from Vitech: LFQ, iQlF, EQi, QHD and Link 706. These blends are designed to give optimum degreasing and detergency. They can be formulated into liquid and powdered laundry detergents, bleach boosters and machine cleaners.

What makes them so great?

  • Low foam cleaning at reduced temperature and alkalinity
  • Superior wetting and detergency
  • Stable in acids, alkali, peroxide based systems
  • Low CMC for higher dilution cleaning
  • Readily biodegradable
  • Non-corrosive and VOC exempt
  • Certifiable under most Green Certification programmes

Cold Temperature Bleaching

EURECO (ε-phthalimido peroxy hexanoic acid)  is inherently biodegradable and non-toxic to humans, as well as being an effective bleaching agent at cold temperatures. It comes as stable liquid dispersions for direct addition to the wash, or as a coated powder grade for formulating into powder systems such as concentrated laundry powders or bleach boosting formulations. Formulated machine cleaners are also possible.

What makes it so great?

  • Removes stains such as tea, coffee, grass and red wine
  • Works across a range of pH (3 to 9.5) with an optimum pH of 9.0
  • Bactericidal and BPR compliant with a great eco-tox profile
  • Mild and safe to the skin
  • Fibre and colour safe, giving up to 50% longer lifespan to clothing
  • Removes bad sulfurous odours, including those in the machine, through oxidation

Soil Release Polymers

Repel-O-Tex® Soil Release polymers boost cleaning and keep fabric colours bright.

What makes them so great?

  • Prevent adhesion of soils between washes and soil redeposition during wash
  • Allow formulators to create highly concentrated detergents with reduced surfactant concentrations and improved cold wash efficiency
  • Make it easier to remove tough stains, while maintaining fabric colour and whiteness
  • Reduce both the chemicals and energy used per wash
